What I enjoy about my job
I enjoy the diversity of the work and the people I encounter. Every day is different and that is what keeps my job so exciting and fresh.
How I ‘make it happen’ for my clients
My clients’ needs and expectations are constantly at the centre of what I do. I am always looking for ways to improve systems and processes, drive efficiencies, save clients’ time and enable them to focus on their business. I am able to do this using ever-advancing technology, which I keep up to date with over various platforms.
A bit about my background
I trained in Aberdeen working in accounting services departments. There, I prepared VAT returns, sole trade, trust, statutory and management accounts for a mix of clients including farms, oil and gas consultants, golfers and fishermen. I moved to Surrey in 2013 to join a practice in a similar role where I gained further experience in VAT, P11D and FCA reporting, while being exposed to different industries including art galleries, vineyards and fund management companies. I was keen to expand my knowledge, so I moved to the audit department where I gained several years’ experience. I joined the accounting department at Dixcart in 2018 where I felt my skills were best suited and where I knew that I could make a positive impact on clients and their businesses.
What I wish I’d known at the start of my career
How big a part technology would play in everything we do today.
You might not know this about me but…
I secured first place in the female caber toss at a Highland Games.
